Dr. Kartzinel’s practice is solely devoted to the research and treatment of autism and other neurodegenerative disorders. His approach includes a comprehensive history and physical exam, and laboratory investigations that seek to find what is biologically different in a child. Once found, he implements therapeutic interventions and monitors closely how they affect restoration of health and behaviors. Dr. Kartzinel works with Dr. Julie Buckley at Pediatric Partners.
HOUSE CALLS: Taking The Biomedical Approach Home Dr. Jerry Kartzinel, board certified pediatrician, will present specific cases that will clearly illustrate the Biomedical Protocol from two perspectives: the parent's and the physician's. This talk will teach you how to formulate a comprehensive plan for your child's care- a journey into faith, hope, love, and recovery. |

Dr. Rossignol received his Doctorate of Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia and completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Virginia (UVa). He is a former clinical assistant professor of family medicine at UVa and is currently a staff physician at the International Child Development Resource Center in Melbourne, FL. One of his clinical interests is the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) in neurodevelopment disorders, including autism. He has authored several papers on the use of HBOT in autism and other conditions. He has spoken many times on the use of HBOT in individuals with autism, and is actively involved in research on HBOT, metal toxicity, and nutritional treatments for autism and other neurological conditions.
Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Autism and Implications for Treatments In recent studies, mitochondrial disease is described in as many as 4% of children with autism and is caused by a genetic abnormality. Mitochondrial dysfunction (MtD) refers to impaired ability of the mitochondria to produce energy, and according to one study, affects at least 20% of children with autism, and probably many more. We will discuss the function of mitochondria, how MtD occurs in autism, how you can test you child for MtD, and treatment options. Newer cutting-edge treatments for autism will also be reviewed. |

| Lisa Ackerman | Shannon Kenitz | |
| Lisa Ackerman is one the founders of Talk About Curing Autism (TACA .) TACA started in 2000 with 10 families in the Ackerman Huntington Beach living room and by February 2008 has grown to over 8,500 families across the U.S. TACA provides 95% program and services free to families affected by autism. Lisa’s background and passion is helping all parents provide their children with healthy nutrition options that taste good and maintain proper balance and medical treatments unique to each childs needs. | Shannon Kenitz is the Executive Director of the International Hyperbaric Association, a non-profit association that promotes hyperbaric oxygen therapy through education and research. Shannon knows first hand the heartbreak and struggles of having a child with autism. Her youngest daughter, Grace was diagnosed with a very rare mitochondrial disease that kept her in the hospital virtually for the first three years of her life then at age 5 was given a diagnosis of autism.
Shannon has appeared on many national media outlets including the Montel Williams Show and the CBS morning show. Grace’s story in one of national attention and has been published in over 35 print media outlets as well as being heard in Washington at the Congressional hearing on health care reform. Shannon’s talk will be on “Hope & Possibilities.” This uniquely designed presentation gives families a new found sense of hope when dealing with the everyday craziness of having a special needs child.
