Green Our Vaccines Rally
With Jenny McCarthy & Jim Carrey

Children Policy & Safety Suggestions

Summary:  We want families to bring their children affected by autism to the Green our Vaccines rally. We know this is not possible for all families. Our key goal is safety for the children and families who attend. Here are safety guidelines and policies for the June 4th DC Rally.

Police & Security:  The Washington DC Police will be present at the Rally on foot and on horse back. Rally staffers will also be present with different colored t-shirts.  These are your “go-to contacts” in case your child is accidentally separated from you during this event.

Rally organizers will be sending them weekly updates on registrations with confirmations for rally attendance. The police have been provided a briefing on autism and the issues they may be faced with if they find a lost child or adult on the spectrum. Because of the high profile nature of our hosts and attendees for the rally security will be of utmost importance to the DC Police.

Safety Suggestions:  Like in any public situation, we strongly urge families to assign a person in their party on “kid patrol.” Kid patrol assignees should keep their eyes on the children at all times (typical children or those affected by autism) due to the large crowds anticipated for this event. Please note: There is no baby sitting at this event. You can check with your hotel if that is available.

Rally organizers suggest that children have a label on the back of their shirt with the caregivers name and cell phone. Also clearly label the child's name in case the child is accidentally separated from their family. Families can also buy temporary tattoos from National Autism Association for events like this one to write directly on the tattoo this information.

March versus Rally? The marching process thru .25 miles of the Capitol near street traffic may overwhelm some on the spectrum. For families with children who are not wanting to march can directly proceed to the Capitol grounds. It is not mandatory to participate in the march.

RALLY SHIRTS: Sorry, shirts are no longer available online. A limited number of shirts will be available for sale at the rally.
