TACA holds monthly meetings in many locations throughout the United States that feature educational speakers on important topics and allow family members to connect with one another and stay on top of the latest information in the autism world.

Each TACA group maintains a resource library of the latest autism books and DVDs/CDs that can be checked out by members at no charge.

February 19, 2012 Effective Communication in the IEP Process
  Speaker: Renay Zamloot, Education Advocate
  Effective communication is key to securing appropriate educational services for your child with disabilities. Ms. Zamloot will provide you with tools and strategies you can use at your next IEP meeting. Her unique perspective on the IEP process and unconventional communication style will change the way you view your role as an IEP team member.
  Renay Zamloot is a professional Education Advocate for children and young adults (ages 3-21) with disabilities who has been assisting families in securing appropriate educational services since 1995. She participates in hundreds of meetings per year. She, herself, is the parent of children with disabilities who continue to receive special education and related services.As a leader in the field for more than 15 years, Ms. Zamloot’s expertise is sought by parents, attorneys, advocates, medical professionals, service providers, and agencies serving people with disabilities statewide. Her creative approach to problem-solving in conjunction with her extensive experience working across disabilities, has resulted in unique and truly individualized programs being developed for the students she serves.Ms. Zamloot is the current President of the Special Education Leadership Council of NJ, Recipient of SPAN’s 2004 Diana Cuthbertson Parent-Professional Collaboration Award, a Graduate of the Special Education Advocacy Training Project jointly sponsored by the US Department of Education, University of Southern California and the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates. Ms. Zamloot has been trained and certified by the New Jersey Department of Human Services as a Surrogate Educational Parent and she regularly participates in national and statewide conferences, workshops and other training programs to remain current on legislative changes and trends in education. She is a member of the NJ Coalition for Special Education Funding Reform, TASH, NJ Special Education Practitioners’ Group and Council of Parent Attorneys & Advocates.
