Come and learn about how the iPad (or iPhone or iPad Touch) has revolutionized the autism world. Coupled with the available applications, or ‘apps’ that have been developed to enhance communication between children and their parents (or caregivers, teachers, and therapists), the results are nothing short of miraculous.

Gina Levy has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 20 years. Her experience includes over 5 years with a major international CPA firm and several years managing accounting departments. Recently she opened her own CPA practice in West Los Angeles. Gina is also the mother of two children with special needs. Her daughter has autism and her son has ADHD. She has been a passionate advocate for increasing the quality of service for all children with special needs. Along with her husband, Ralph, and other parents, she founded SpecialKidsLA, Inc. The website was a great help to many parents, unfortunately, they were unable to secure adequate funding to continue managing and hosting the website. Gina now brings this passion to her prior background of tax and accounting. She has recognized that many parents of children with special needs are unaware of how they can access additional services by tax planning. She is available for consultation on any of these issues and looks forward to helping parents.
March 3, 2012 Medical Insurance Coverage for Special Needs
Speaker: Christopher E. Angelo, Esq.
Christopher E. Angelo will speak about how parents can use insurance laws in perfecting major medical coverages for autism and about how parents can use state law to overcome negative anti-consumer federal law.
Christopher E. Angelo is a consumer contingency fee trial attorney representing those catastrophically injured by insurance companies, defective product manufacturers, defectively constructed buildings and other corporate malfeasance. Mr. Angelo has prosecuted and established pro-consumer legal precedents that have received national attention in areas affecting healthcare, biotechnology, environmental clean-up and insurance. He is also the proud father of an 18-year-old son with autism. After his son was diagnosed in 1994, Mr. Angelo proposed a mental health parity state mandate to overrule all “mental and nervous disorder” exclusions in California health plans. With the help of UCLA, this state mandate ultimately became known as AB88 and is now the most progressive autism state mandate in the nation. Mr. Angelo has spoken throughout California and other states on how parents and professionals can perfect medically necessary major medical coverage for autism under their private healthcare plans.
