Speakers: Leslie A Fox, West Precinct Community Deputy, Dane County Sheriff’s Office and Rachel Kravits, Vice President and Co-coordinator for K9 training, and Karen Stapleton, Search and Rescue volunteer, Wisconsin K9 SOS.

Deputy Fox will begin with an overview of Care Trak telemetry tracking system, how to sign up your loved one, Dane County’s procedure when searching for a lost person, and a demonstration on the equipment.

Rachel and Karen, both members of Wisconsin K9 SOS, will discuss how K9 resources are one of multiple tools that can be utilized when a child or adult with autism wanders. Topics to be covered include live area scent dogs, scent-specific area scent dogs, trailing dogs, info about K9 SAR units, and how to make a scent article for your family member. The presentation will also include K9 demos from a certified trailing dog, certified live area scent dog, and puppies in training.

Leslie A Fox is the West Precinct Community Deputy with the Dane County Sheriff’s Office and is the community contact for the Care Trak program.

Rachel Kravitz has been a SAR volunteer for over 13 years and participated in over 50 searches in WI, MN and IL. She was a founding member of WI K9 SOS and serves as Vice President and Co-coordinator for K9 Training. She has trained 3 SAR partners, certifying in live area scent and land & water cadaver (with Law Enforcement Training Specialists, Int’l). Rachel has earned her SARTech II certification with NASAR (National Assoc. for Search & Rescue), as well as completed many other courses related to incident command, scent theory, search strategy, 1st aid, K9 1st aid, and many others. She enjoys spending all of her vacation time from her day job traveling to SAR seminars all over the country. Rachel credits Cris Goodhue (Avon, MT) of Shekinah K9 as her master trainer, and is very grateful for the education she’s received as well as the life long SAR friends she’s made across the country thanks to Cris.

Karen Stapleton has been a SAR volunteer for over 7 years and has participated in over 25 searches in WI, MN, and IL. Karen joined WI K9 SOS in 2008, and was quickly recognized as our resident expert in trailing as well as K9 behavior. Karen has certified her K9 partner Dexter in trailing, land & water cadaver, and scent-specific live area scent through multiple agencies. Karen is a trailing instructor and evaluator for NASDN (North American Search Dog Network). Karen earned her SARTech II through NASAR as well as completed many other courses related to incident command, scent theory, search strategy, 1st aid, K9 1st aid, and many others. • Speakers on topics ranging from traditional therapies, integrated medical treatments, education, and legal support.
  • TACA's Parent Mentors - one-on-one access to experienced families who have successfully navigated the challenges of finding appropriate treatments and educational opportunities for their children, and who receive additional education from TACA's Foundation Office.
