Speakers: Pamela Hackett, MPT Managing Partner, PTS, Inc.

Pamela Hackett is co-owner and founder of PTS – a therapy provider for dozens of area school districts. Pam will be discussing Sensory Integration and common types of sensory dysfunction. Sensory disorders can impact children functionally and behaviorally. Pam will share useful strategies that can be employed both at home and at school. She will discuss a variety of sensory techniques that help children improve attention, coordination and self regulation. She will also review the terminology that therapists use to describe sensory processing disorder to facilitate better communication between parents and therapy providers. Pam is a pediatric PT and completed her certification in Sensory Integration and Praxis (SIPT) during her time at Childrens Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP).

Kim Stagliano is the author of All I Can Handle I’m No Mother Teresa, a “humorous look at a life that is anything but ordinary”. Kim is the Managing Editor of the nation’s first daily web newspaper about the autism epidemic – AgeofAutism.com. She is on the editorial staff of the Autism File and is a Huffington Post blogger. Kim has appeared on multiple news outlets like ABC News, FOX News and Good Morning America. She lives in CT with her husband and three gorgeous girls, Mia, Gianna and Bella, all of which are affected with autism.

Kim is not only a gifted writer and mother, she possesses the ability to maintain an incredible sense of humor during trying times. Her talent encourages us all to have hope in face of adversity. Come meet and listen to Kim and prepare to laugh, cry and be inspired.

How TACA Helps Pennsylvania Families

TACA does not charge admission to the meetings, nor does it assess annual membership fees for families it supports. Meetings feature:

  • Free TACA Autism Journey Guides (over 300 pages of collective knowledge gathered from experienced paraprofessionals and parents) are offered to all parents of who are attending their first Chapter meeting.
  • Speakers on topics ranging from traditional therapies, integrated medical treatments, education, and legal support.
  • TACA's Parent Mentors - one-on-one access to experienced families who have successfully navigated the challenges of finding appropriate treatments and educational opportunities for their children, who receive additional education from TACA's Foundation Office.
